A vape pod is the replaceable or refillable cartridge that holds e-liquid in a pod kit. Match the pod to your device first, then choose prefilled for simplicity or refillable for more e-liquid choice. This vape pods buying guide explains compatibility and UK limits for adults.
- A pod only works with the device it was made for, so check the pod name against your kit.
- Prefilled pods arrive filled and are swapped when empty, while refillable pods need your own e-liquid.
- The Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 limit nicotine-containing pods and tanks to 2ml and nicotine e-liquid to 20mg/ml.
- Puff figures on listings are maker estimates marked ‘up to’, not guarantees.
What is a vape pod and how does it differ from a kit?
A vape pod is a small container that holds e-liquid and, in most designs, the coil. It fits into a battery device. A vape kit is the complete set: the device plus at least one pod.
The coil is the part that heats the e-liquid, and e-liquid is the liquid that turns into vapour. DEFRA’s single-use vapes ban guidance says the ban applies from 1 June 2025 and describes a reusable vape as rechargeable with a refillable or replaceable pod.
iBreathe stocks pods and kits from brands including Feoba, Dojo, Hayati, SKE and Romio. Vaping products are for adults aged 18 and over only.
Prefilled vs refillable pods: which should you choose?
Prefilled pods suit adults who want the simplest routine, while refillable pods suit adults who want to choose their own e-liquid. A prefilled pod arrives with e-liquid inside, so you swap the pod when it is empty and do no filling. Our prefilled vape pods cover families such as Feoba Pro 6000, Dojo Blast 10K, Hayati Pro Max+ 6000 and SKE.
A refillable pod holds e-liquid that you add yourself. You pick the e-liquid, but the pod needs filling and some upkeep. Browse our refillable vape pods, and read our guide on how to refill a pod for the steps.
Compare the two types on effort, choice and upkeep:
- Effort: prefilled pods need no filling; refillable pods need filling.
- Flavour choice: prefilled pods come in the flavours the maker offers for that pod; refillable pods take the e-liquid you choose.
- Upkeep: prefilled pods are replaced whole; refillable pods are refilled with e-liquid and need some cleaning and eventual replacement.
Freebase or nic salt: which suits a pod device?
Freebase and nic salt e-liquids can both be used in pod devices, so check the PG/VG ratio and the suggested device type on each product page. Freebase nicotine is the traditional form, and 70PG/30VG freebase is commonly paired with mouth-to-lung devices. PG is propylene glycol and VG is vegetable glycerine, the two base liquids in e-liquid.
Mouth-to-lung (MTL) means you draw vapour into your mouth first, then inhale. Nic salt, short for nicotine salt, is a form of nicotine often used at higher strengths in pod devices, up to the 20mg/ml legal limit. Prefilled pods already contain the e-liquid the maker chose, so this choice mainly matters for refillable pods.
UK law caps nicotine e-liquid at 20mg/ml whichever format you pick, as covered below. Check the exact strength on the product page or bottle rather than relying on a general rule. iBreathe stocks both nic salts and freebase e-liquids.
How do you check pod compatibility?
Pod compatibility depends on the device, so the first step in how to choose a vape pod is to identify your kit by brand and model. Pods are made for named devices, and a pod from one brand may not fit another brand’s kit. Follow these four steps.
- Identify your device by brand and model name, such as Feoba Pro 6000, SKE Bar or Romio Aster R.
- Choose the pod made for that device. Do not assume pods are interchangeable between brands.
- For refillable pods, check the coil resistance on the product page. The Romio Aster R 2ml refillable replacement pods list 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm coils.
- Check the nicotine strength and flavour profile, using words such as tobacco, menthol or fresh mint.
Product pages state which device a pod is for. The Feoba Pro 6000 prefilled replacement pod, for example, is described as designed for the Feoba Pro 6000 pod kit. Hayati Pro Max Plus pods, listed as Hayati Pro Max+ 6000 pods, belong with the Hayati Pro Max+ 6000 kit. Read the full pod name, including numbers such as 6000 or 10K, because ranges from one brand can look alike.
If you are replacing your device, kits are listed under prefilled pod vape kits and refillable pod kits.
Pod types compared
Vape pod families differ by device and category listing, as the table below shows. It gives the maker’s puff figure per pod where a pod page states one.
| Pod family | Listed under | Fits | Maker puff figure per pod |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feoba Pro 6000 | Prefilled Pods | Feoba Pro 6000 kit | Not stated |
| Dojo Blast 10K | Prefilled Pods | Dojo Blast 10K kit | Not stated |
| Hayati Pro Max+ 6000 | Prefilled Pods | Hayati Pro Max+ 6000 kit | Not stated |
| SKE Bar | Prefilled Pods | SKE Bar kit | Up to 600 |
| SKE 600 Pro | Prefilled Pods | SKE 600 Pro kit | Up to 600 |
| Romio Aster R | Refillable Pods (2ml) | Romio Aster R kit | Not stated |
Puff counts are maker estimates of how long a pod can last, so they are not guaranteed. Use them to compare pods within one family rather than as a promise. Check whether a figure refers to one pod or to the whole kit.
Which UK rules affect vape pods?
UK rules cap nicotine-containing vape pods and tanks at 2ml and nicotine e-liquid at 20mg/ml under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (SI 2016/507). These regulations also set the refill bottle limit. Together, the main limits are:
- Nicotine-containing tanks and pods: up to 2ml.
- Nicotine refill bottles: up to 10ml.
- Nicotine e-liquid: up to 20mg/ml.
- Notification: nicotine-containing vapes and refill containers must be notified to the MHRA before sale.
The MHRA’s guidance on e-cigarette regulations says nicotine-containing e-cigarettes and refill containers must be notified to the MHRA before they can be sold.
Duty stamps are the next change. According to HMRC’s Vaping Products Duty announcement, all vaping products must carry a duty stamp from 1 April 2027.
Frequently asked questions
Are vape pods interchangeable between brands?
No. Vape pods are generally made for one device, and a pod from one brand may not fit another brand’s kit. Pods listed for a named device, such as the Feoba Pro 6000, are designed for that device. Always match the pod name to your kit before choosing.
What is the difference between prefilled and refillable pods?
Prefilled pods come with e-liquid already inside and are replaced when empty. Refillable pods are filled with your own e-liquid, which gives more choice but needs a little more upkeep. Both types fit only the devices they were made for, so check compatibility first.
How do I know which pod fits my kit?
Check the brand and model name of your device, then choose the pod listed for that exact device. For refillable pods, also compare the coil resistance on the product page. The Romio Aster R replacement pods, for example, list 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm coils. The product page names the device each pod is listed for.
Can single-use vapes still be sold in the UK?
No. According to DEFRA, the sale and supply of single-use vapes has been banned in the UK since 1 June 2025. DEFRA describes a reusable vape as rechargeable, with a refillable or replaceable pod. Check each product page for the device type before choosing.
What is the biggest pod size allowed in the UK?
The biggest pod or tank size allowed for nicotine vapes in the UK is 2ml. The Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 also limit nicotine refill bottles to 10ml and nicotine e-liquid to 20mg/ml. Check the capacity on the product page, as device names can mention other numbers.
What does ‘up to’ mean in pod puff figures?
Puff figures are maker estimates of how long a pod or kit might last, not guarantees. The wording ‘up to’ marks a ceiling, and real use varies with how you vape. Compare figures within one pod family, and check whether a figure refers to one pod or the whole kit.
